I think I've mentioned before on the blog how I'm a creature of habit, a lover of my routine. I eat the same thing for lunch every day and really enjoy our Friday night Chipotle dates.
Sometimes it's necessary to break out of the mold, though, and spice things up a bit. Last Friday after work, I fought my urge to throw on my pjs after walking in the door and instead grabbed Wade and headed down to the First Fridays festivities in the Crossroads district of Kansas City. If you're ever in Kansas City the first Friday of a month, I definitely suggest checking out this event. Over the past 10 years, it's really grown and now has food trucks, pop up shops, and live music taking over the whole area.
I ended up running into some blogger friends, and the night turned into a fun, spontaneous, little reunion. It made me wonder why I don't always push myself to do things that are out of the norm.
I like to have a good balance of downtime and fun time, but there is a whole big world out there with so many interesting things going on that it's good to go exploring once in a while.

To cap off the night, I had my first Moscow Mule at The Cashew. I wouldn't say it's my new favorite drink, but it was cool that it came in a copper mug.
What about you? Do you find it hard to break out of your routine or are you always up for a new adventure?
We are creatures of habit too, looks like a great night and your outfit is adorable.

Thanks so much, Ashley!! I need to wear it like that more often then:) We should plan to meet up at one of them! The next one is on the 4th of July, so not sure if that would work, but what about August? It should be nice and steamy in KC by then:) Hope you're having a great week!
DeleteI'm a creature of habit too, the same lunch every day, and I'm very happy not being too adventurous a lot of the time. But when I do do something different I enjoy it. Lovely photos, I'm glad you had such a good time. CJ xx
ReplyDeleteThis makes me feel so much better I'm not the only creature of habit! We know what we like, right? It's fun to step out of the box a little bit, but I agree that I am very content with my little routines, too:)
DeleteWhat a fun night!!! I'm glad you fought the urge to put your pjs on and came out for a little bit of Friday night fun! I loved your outfit too! Hope to see you soon!

DeleteYou look darling!! It is definitely hard to not get into my pjs right when I get home (guilty!) but totally worth it to go to fun things like First Fridays!

Thanks so much, Darcy! Putting on my pjs is usually the first thing I do when I get home, but you're right that fighting the urge this time was totally worth it:) Hope you're having a great week!
DeleteThat First Fridays event sounds like a blast!
ReplyDeleteIt was! Hope you're having a great week!!
DeleteI was Miss Routine until I started dating my boyfriend. He is a musician and he's always taking me to his performances at festivals, dive bars, and random barns. It's made me see that adventure doesn't have to be far, but just around the corner!
ReplyDeleteI love that jewelry too! Such fun colors.
What a fun night! I've been trying to make summer feel special and do activities that I've heard about but just blew off until now. Shar is at the perfect age for almost everything!
ReplyDeleteIt's motivating to see someone break the after work, put on jammies routine. I like the stripes with the patterned shorts look. Glad you had such a nice night.
ReplyDeleteLoving that super cute outfit paired with your high pony!
