1 // 2 // 3// 4 // 5

We've been in our home for a little over 4 years. We have all hard wood floors, which I love, but Wade has been bugging me ever since we moved in to gets rugs for the living room and dining room.  I haven't looked much into it, because honestly nothing ever really caught my eye and they can be a big investment (I'm pretty stingey).

The colorful and unique patterned rugs have got me thinking more about it, though.  I'm loving the Aztec and Kilim patterns.  I don't know if we have the right rooms to incorporate them, but I really like looking at them!  The mix of colors and patterns are eye catching and would make a great statement piece to a room that needs a little oomph.

Something like #3 in a light blue stripe is probably one I could get Wade to buy into.  I secretly would love #1, though.  I'm not a big pink person, but the mix of yellow and teal with it makes it less feminine to me.  We'll see.

Any tips on buying rugs or found any recently that you love?

  1. Rugs can be pretty pricey! We don't have any for our hardwood floors, probably for that exact reason. I do really like the pattern of rug #5 though!

    1. Me, too! It will take me forever to pick a rug and maybe by that time my husband will just forget about it:)

  2. Love these rugs! I hate how expensive area rugs are, though. I always keep an eye out for them at consignment sales and garage sales... and then I scour them to make sure they're not disgusting. lol

    1. You're so right! The former owners of our house left a smaller rug that we still have. We washed it really well and sprayed with lots of Lysol:)

  3. We are in the process of purchasing our first home and let me tell you the rugs are driving me nuts. We currently have some that we're using which are OK - we purchased them years ago, and like you I'm pretty stingy when it comes to dropping my money on something I'm going to toss on the floor and walk on (or that our cat is going to try to destroy with his claws). I LOVE these choices. I have a hard time convincing my hubby about Aztec stuff or even different patterns, he keeps saying they look like we're in Arizona... (he doesn't get it) haha. Good luck in your search - go for what speaks to you. If you care for a rug it will last you a long, long time so try not to bargain shop too much.

    1. You're completely right about finding something I love and going for it. I have found over the years that you pretty much get what you pay for. My husband says the same thing about Aztec stuff! Don't they realize how cool these patterns are?! That's so exciting you guys are buying your first home! It was a stressful time for us, but so rewarding. Hope you're having a great day!

  4. I found a ton at Home Decorator's Collection!! They have an amazing selection. I would also try Nebraska Furniture Mart. Can you believe rugs cost that much?!! Ugh.

P.S. So great meeting you at Go Blog Social!!!

    Stay fabulous!

  5. We have bought several rugs over the years. There is a lot more selection online and you can typically find free shipping. However, there is never free returns so you have to be completely sure before you buy. We find the selection in stores is very, very limited and unispiring. I've bought rugs from Overstock and Rugs USA. The prices are generally very reasonable and the quality is just okay. We are very hard on our rugs (the dogs, small house) so they don't hold up more than a few years, but I'm usually tired of them by then anyways. I bought a beautiful jute rug from Pier One that I love. We're already on the second side of it since the dogs threw up all over the other side. Agh! Happy rug hunting!

    1. That is so smart to buy something you can just flip over to use the other side! Very smart thinking:) I'll have to check out those websites, too. I've been leaning to more colorful, patterned rugs, but I think that will fight too much with what I already have in the house. I need something more basic:)

  6. I love the rugs you pictured in your post! (: The bright colors are so addicting. I find that Target always seems to have bright patterns for rugs.
