WEEKLY INSPIRATION: JUST BREATHE

Do you ever lie in bed and find that you can't shut off your brain and just keep worrying about things?  I am a worrier by nature, so have found that I need to watch mindless TV to drift off to sleep.  Last night, though, no amount of 30 Rock repeats could quiet my thoughts down.

It's strange how sometimes we are able to compartmentalize things so that we do not obsess or become consumed by fear or anxiousness, while other times we aren't able to be rationale and let things go.

When I'm nervous about something, I just want it to be figured out now, at this very instant.  The act of waiting to see if things are a big deal or not is not my strong suit.

So I'm going to tell myself to "just breathe" and think about this beautiful landscape.  The world is so awe inspiring and big to be consumed by worries.

So tonight, turn off your thoughts and let yourself just breathe.  That's what I'm going to try to do, at least.

How about you?  Do you ever feel this way?  How do you quiet your worrisome thoughts?

  1. I've definitely have those moments when my mind seems to get hooked into a little spiral of worry and anxious thoughts--for me, prayer and reminding myself of what I know to be truth helps me calm down and go to sleep the way I should!

  2. I'm exactly the same, a worrier, and I HATE worrying but I can't shut it off. I get hugely anxious if it can't be sorted IMMEDIATELY, and like you I try and anaesthetise it with some bland tv. I have a worry at the moment that is eating away at me. It's like a constant black cloud and a sick feeling the pit of my stomach. Oh life is hard sometimes isn't it. I do hope your worry goes away and that you get some really good sleep. You're right that the world is too amazing to be down for long. And one day we will look back and wonder why we worried so much. Things have a way of working out for the best. Keep breathing Kari, CJ xx

  3. I do get really antsy sometimes, especially when I can't sleep, and I always find that 10 slow, deep breaths make everything just melt away! It's not often we take time to be completely still like that.

  4. I think we all have those moments sometimes! I hope you can get yourself to "just breathe" when you need too! Also do you know about how long it takes to hear back from the KC blogger Network? I think I applied like a week and a half ago and haven't heard anything! Not sure if that is normal or not : ).

  5. I've been falling asleep to skateboarding videos on my instagram feed lately. I think about where the person's feet were when they did the move, how they turned their arms and head and so on. It puts me right to sleep. p.s. thanks for the sweet words to Scott :)

  6. You know what's annoying? My husband and I can have a deep conversation before bed, and he can doze right off to sleep afterward. Not me... My brain tends to kick it into high gear when I lay down because that's when I have time to think. :( If you find something earth shattering, let me know.
