As a fun treat to remind us of summer, we bought some Carambola, or Star fruit to try this weekend. We had never had it before. It was good--kind of tasted like an apple but looked a lot cooler. Unfortunately, we bit into it before we read that you're supposed to cut it long ways. Hence the star is missing one of its points:)
I got another order from Made (a boutique in Lawrence, KS that specializes in all handmade items), so I was working hard this past week creating some new necklaces to bring up.
To date, one of my proudest moments has been getting to sell my "wares" in an actual store. And in a store that is so beautiful and has a bunch of cool stuff. This could be another post in itself...
I made this friendship bracelet with some sparkle last week. I love the mix of laid back and glitzy. Surprisingly, it took forever to finish the friendship bracelet portion. I guess I picked too intricate of a design, but it looks pretty neat. I have a few more versions that I am itching to start.
All in all, a great past few days. And then we woke up to this....
If you can't see by the picture, that's a tree limb that broke due to the weight of the snow and fell across our driveway. I am so thankful it didn't hit our house. I know there are others out there who weren't as fortunate. Lucky for me, the huberino is out there right now chopping it up. Anyone need firewood?
Congrats, Kari! Love the bracelet! I think Carson Kressly (sp) was the one who talked about star fruit last week for an Oscar party. :) Anyway, I think it's neat and will have to try it!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the order from made Kari! What a neat feeling having something you created sold in a store (and such a unique one at that!). I'm glad that tree missed your house! Even though it's causing problems, the snow looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI have never tried that fruit before although the name sounds familiar. I think it's was they call a certain card game in Mexico? Not sure though lol.
ReplyDeleteThat is so awesome that a shop sells your necklaces. I clicked on your etsy shop and you have some super cute items. I recently bought some braising cords to try and make a bracelet. Think it will be fun to try. Your came out super cute.
Haha! At first I thought it was just a lovely picture of a winter wonderland. Good of you too look on the bright side of things. At least it wasn't your house. :)
